About Rested Roots
Created for people who feel stretched thin — and who miss the simple feeling of being held by nature.
The philosophy of forest bathing
Forest bathing (shinrin-yoku) is a guided practice of mindful nature immersion. Rather than “hiking”, we move slowly and pause often. You’ll be offered gentle invitations to engage your senses — to see, hear, touch, and breathe with the woodland.
Many people leave feeling calmer, clearer, and more grounded. The woods become a place to soften the nervous system, reconnect with yourself, and return to daily life with a steadier inner pace.
You don’t need experience. You don’t need to be “good at mindfulness”. You just need comfortable shoes and a willingness to slow down.

Not a walk. Not a workout. A way of being.
Forest bathing is not about fitness or performance. It’s about slowing down enough to notice what’s already here: breath, birdsong, soft light through leaves, and the quiet steadiness of the woods.

We move at the pace of the forest. No rush, no agenda, no pressure to keep up.

Meet Julie
Hi, I’m Julie Cleasby — the founder of Rested Roots. I’m a registered nurse, certified forest bathing practitioner, mindfulness practitioner, and trainer, as well as a hypnotherapist and EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) practitioner.
I’m also a busy parent of twins and a business owner — and for years I felt like I was constantly chasing my tail. Life was full, fast, and relentless. I realised I was living in a way that looked “fine” from the outside, but I wasn’t truly resting.
Somewhere along the way, I noticed how quickly the world rushes by — and how easy it is to miss your own life while you’re trying to keep up. The woods became the place where I could slow down, breathe again, and remember what it feels like to be steady.
Rested Roots is also a gentle invitation to unplug from an ever-digital world. No screens. No scrolling. Just fresh air, birdsong, and the quiet support of nature.
I created Rested Roots because I believe deeply in the healing power of nature. My sessions are guided with warmth and care, blending nature immersion with gentle mindfulness and relaxation techniques. The approach is always soft, supportive, and designed to meet you exactly where you are.
Whether you’re navigating stress, burnout, or simply craving a deeper connection with nature — every session is shaped to help you feel safe, held, and gently restored.
I’d love to welcome you into the woods. Come as you are — the forest will do the rest.
